The Tigers opened the scoring in the first on the powerplay at the 11:05 mark. Jake Leschyshyn responded for the Pats with his team leading sixth, 1:36 later to make it 1-1. Medicine Hat added another on the poweplay late in the frame and led 2-1 at the break.
In the second, the Pats got a tying goal from Liam Schioler, his first, and then 41 seconds later Duncan Pierce scored his third of the year and Regina took their first lead at 3-2. The Tigers came back with four goals in the final 6:16 of the period and led 6-3 after 40 minutes.
In the third, Medicine Hat got the lead to 7-3 before Aaron Hyman and Nick Henry each scored their fourth goals of the season to get the Pats within two at 7-5.
They would pull the goalie late and Medicine Hat scored into the empty net to make it 8-5 and that was the final score.
The Pats and Tigers tied 36-36 on the shot clock, the Regina powerplay was one for two and the penalty kill four for six.
Austin Pratt, Jake Leschyshyn, Duncan Pierce and Koby Morrisseau led Regina with two-point nights, while Max Paddock and Dean McNabb combined to make 28 saves.
