The Riot took control of the game early with Jennilea Coppola scoring her first of two touchdowns at 1:40 into the first quarter and the second touchdown scored by Carmen Agar at 5:07. By the end of the first quarter the score was 36-0.
The game MVP went to Payton Kuster who had two punt returns for touchdowns, one 67 yards the other 54 yards as well as two interceptions.
“I had 11 girls blocking for me, they opened up huge holes. It was perfect. It feels unreal” says Kuster about being named the game MVP.
In the second half of the game, first time head coach Olivier Eddie rested most of his starting players, including 11 of his players who will be travelling to B.C. to represent Canada in the 2017 Women’s World Championship next week.
Much respect is given to the Calgary Rage players, coaches and fans. Although they struggled they showed true grit and never gave up.
The Regina Riot do everything at an elite level and their hard work has paid off as they can now call themselves champions!
