Still, this item is something that I can't even parody. Meredith Vieira of 25 Words or Less is getting the "NAB Show New York Impact Award." Gotta admit, I've never heard of anybody getting an award for having an impact on New York. But Meredith is taking home the prize, for whatever it's worth.
Meredith is running the new virtual version of 25 Words or Less out of her New York basement, while the game players do their thing from a California studio. So maybe the prize-givers thought this was a nice gesture on her part toward the state.
I write this blog in Texas, but I'm not expecting a Blogger Texas Impact Award. In fact, the only sort of kudos I ever got for this blog were a couple of nominations for Carrie Grosvenor's old game show site awards, when she was running the About.com blog on the genre. Does About.com even exist any more? I could look it up but I'm too lazy.
