Porsche 911 Turbo S Races Taycan Turbo S, Proves ICEs Are Still Alive And Kicking

The Porsche Taycan Turbo S has established itself as the quickest electric vehicle currently on the market (alongside the Tesla Model S Performance with Cheetah Launch), but how does it compare against another fast Porsche, namely the new 911 Turbo S?

With the exception of the 918 Spyder, the Taycan Turbo S and 911 Turbo S are the quickest production cars that Porsche has ever built and are both capable of quarter-mile sprints in the low 10-second mark. CarWow pitted the duo together in a battle royale to see which is the true king of performance.

The first test is a quarter-mile race from a standing start. In the first race, the driver of the 911 Turbo S has the quicker reaction time and rockets off the line, leaving the Taycan for dead. In the second race, the two drivers have very similar reaction times but, once again, it is the 911 that sprints away, making the most of its potent twin-turbo 3.8-liter six-cylinder and completing the quarter-mile in 10.2 seconds compared to the 10.3 seconds of the Taycan.

The two Porsches then move on to a handful of rolling races. While the Taycan’s instantly-available torque helps it in a rolling race as the 911 changes down gears, it is the 911 that sprints past as the speeds start to increase.

Last but not least is a braking test, where the 911 Turbo S easily defeats the Taycan, thanks in no small part to its significantly lower weight.
