Link to the past

A couple posts ago I pointed out a casting call for a reboot of Weakest Link.

The call mysteriously disappeared, and I had no clue what was going on. (Which is true about a lot of things, I know.) But now it looks like the reboot is really on the way. Lots of sites are reporting that Jane Lynch will host a new season of 13 eps on NBC. Production supposedly will begin later this year.

Exactly where they will tape the eps is anybody's guess. If California remains locked down, the showrunners could always pack up and head to a more open state. GSN is doing exactly that with the new season of Get a Clue, slated to tape in Las Vegas.

Beyond the lockdowns, the news might also have a bearing on Hollywood Game Night. There's no law that Jane Lynch can't host two game shows on NBC at the same time, but the party epic may have played its last season. Hollywood Game Night's ratings have cratered in a most ugly fashion.

Speaking of ratings, Weakest Link was never a runaway hit in its first U.S. incarnation. The show has a sourish format that doesn't produce warm and fuzzy feelings in the audience. One other note: NBC seems to be paying ABC the sincerest form of flattery in ordering this reboot of an old format.
