Deadline reports that Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy will produce new episodes.
The shows will head back into their Culver City, CA studio to churn out some fresh eps for the fall season. According to the linked story, Jeopardy will begin taping this week and Wheel will start up next week.
The shows will make changes in response to the severe California lockdowns. A while back I linked to video of the Greek version of Wheel, which might have indicated how Pat and Vanna's word game will keep everybody away from everybody. Jeopardy will also make some set changes, in particular to protect Alex Trebek, who is truly at high risk from the virus.
If these shows can tape in California, I assume that other game shows might follow. Even The Price is Right and Let's Make a Deal, which rely on a bunch of contestants in the studio, could change things to have individual players enter the set at a distance from each other.
Slowly but surely our little genre seems to be coming back to life after the lockdowns.
