992-Gen Porsche 911 Looks Perfect With A Ducktail Spoiler

Porsche has been spied testing an intriguing 911 prototype at the Nürburgring and it could very well be a successor to the lovely 997-generation 911 Sport Classic.

The first thing that stands out with this 911 is the ducktail rear spoiler that looks virtually identical to the spoiler of the Sport Classic. Not only does the wing pay tribute to 911s of decades gone by, but also happens to suit the looks of the sports car absolutely perfectly.

Making the prototype all the more intriguing is the fact that it features air intakes on the rear wheel arches, just like the 911 Turbo and Turbo S models. This means the car will likely feature the same 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder of the Turbo S as opposed to being marketed as a mid-tier 911 variant with the 3.0-liter twin-turbo of lesser 911 models.

If that’s the case, it could pump out the same 641 hp and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque, resulting in a 0-60 mph (96 km/h) time of roughly 2.6 seconds. Interestingly, the car appears to have a manual transmission, something that neither the current 911 Turbo or Turbo S do.

The biggest giveaway of the presence of a stick shift comes at the 42-second mark of the video below, when an aggressive gear shift is made and the driver then raises his right hand off the shifter and onto the steering wheel. Throughout the rest of the clip, the changes also sound too slow to be from a PDK transmission.
