Mad about you

It's another quiet weekend, so I hit the random page button at U.S. Game Shows Wiki. Back came an entry on a long forgotten Disney Channel effort called Mad Libs from 1998-99.

This was yet another kid show with puzzles and stunts. By an odd coincidence I reviewed Disney's Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge just a few days ago. At least Mad Libs didn't relentlessly push the Star Wars franchise on unsuspecting young'uns. Of course, this was back when Disney didn't own the franchise. Who knows what they might have done with it in the 1990s?

As always, YouTube offers some bits and pieces if you want to sample the goings-on. Mad Libs wasn't a terrible show, just sort of generic kid stuff. David Sidoni, an actor whose IMDb page peters out after 2004 and who also helmed a kids version of Wheel of Fortune, hosted with the requisite enthusiasm.

U.S. Game Shows Wiki hangs the dreaded "Flops" label on the show, and it's hard to argue with the verdict. Mad Libs died an unlamented death after one season, and nobody's going to try a remake any time soon (or any time later). But it gets a wiki entry, so there's that.
