Coming to reruns near you

As everybody knows, Jeopardy is now out of new eps due to California's draconian lockdowns and genuine concern over host Alex Trebek's health. So the venerable quizzer has scheduled some of its most appealing reruns over the next few weeks.

Which means a lot of Jeopardy James Holzhauer. The show will reprise many eps from his historic 2019 run and his tournament of champions triumph.

Reruns always hurt ratings, as the show found out when it repackaged ABC's G.O.A.T. special a few weeks ago. And as the weather warms up and the lockdowns break down, people get out and about and TV ratings naturally fall. But Jeopardy always draws more than decent numbers by current syndie standards, so the show shouldn't collapse under the rerun weight.

The real question is when Jeopardy might finally tape new eps. Alex's compromised immune system and overall health concerns are a huge factor here. My guess is that it will be a good long while before the show gets back into the studio.

Meanwhile, Sony soulmate Wheel of Fortune hopes to resume taping fairly soon. The show still has some new eps on the shelf that it will mix in with reruns over the next several weeks.
