Running on empty

Haven't written anything about Buzzr lately. To be honest, there hasn't been much to write about. The diginet did bring back their bingo game for viewers, but that's about it for novel developments.

Way back in March the diginet warned viewers that the virus lockdowns might shut off "fresh" episodes of Buzzr's hoary lineup. That seems to have happened, according to the oldies boards. My own viewing of Buzzr is mostly limited to occasional Password Plus and Super Password eps, and the diginet hasn't run any fresh episodes of those shows for a while.

This is one more sign of what happens when economic hard times hit. Corporate parent Fremantle (and above them, Bertelsmann) aren't going to invest in expensive workarounds to keep fresh eps coming to a little watched diginet.

Given the big bump in GSN's ratings since the lockdowns hit hard, Buzzr may well be experiencing an uptick in viewership. But any larger audiences don't seem enough to justify fancy (and costly) ways to dodge the lockdowns. So fresh episodes will have to wait for another day.
