So I checked Pluto TV and an episode of
Friend or Foe was up next on Game Show Central. I had never liked the show, but I decided to give it another chance.
Long story short: I still don't like the show. The prisoner's dilemma format almost forces humiliation on the contestants by making them liars or chumps or both. Kennedy's sardonic attitude as the host doesn't help.
Call me sentimental but I prefer honest competition on my game shows. I know that lying is part of a format as time-honored as
To Tell the Truth, but
Friend or Foe takes prevarication and treachery to an obnoxious extreme.
On the other hand, it was nice to see a long forgotten effort on Game Show Central. At least GSN is digging deep into the vault, but they should have left
Friend or Foe alone. Rustle up some episodes of
Lingo or
Russian Roulette instead.
