Turns out there's a lot more to Monty's life. Well-known game show pundit Adam Nedeff is writing a full-length biography of Monty, and his comments form the backbone of Closer's story. We learn about Monty's hardscrabble background and tough introduction to show business.
Monty and partner Stefan Hatos finally won through with their pet project about crazy contestants wearing crazy costumes and itching to make deals for merchandise and cash. After LMAD folded, Monty tried other not-so-successful shows and did a lot of charity work. He never forgot his own struggles and wanted to make things a little easier for others.
Among many other things, Adam Nedeff comments that Monty's 1973 book Emcee Monty Hall reflected the host's frustration after doing Let's Make a Deal for so long. Adam maintains that Monty really loved the show and was just letting off a little steam. Maybe, but any long-running show can get to be a grind for everybody involved. No matter, the Closer article is well worth a read for any game show fan.
