Root root root for the home team

January 16 was a good day for GSN's America Says. The show drew 556K viewers and a 0.08 18-49 rating for its new ep in prime time. That 18-49 number may not seem so great, but it's superb for the ancient skewing GSN. And the total viewer number is the highest I've seen for the show.

The GSN schedule shows that America Says runs out of new eps in its endless third season after January 28. That would complete 160 eps in the third stanza. The network must love its lively Family Feud knockoff, even if the show will apparently not return for a second year as a syndie. (See my post a while ago.)

Readers of this blog know my high opinion of the show. I think it's a real improvement on the Feud format, eliminating a lot of the dawdles in the front game. So I tend to root for good news on the show, like it's the home team facing the baddies from out of town.

Haven't heard anything about a fourth season for America Says on GSN. The show is stingy with prize money, though host John Michael Higgins might be getting a tad expensive. The numbers have stayed impressive throughout the show's run, so a renewal hardly looks impossible. But I've given up trying to predict TV execs' decisions.
