John Michael Higgins and friends were close to the top among all cable shows in November with 88.7% viewability. I know you're asking, what in Hades is viewability? So I went to the TVision site - they're the people who come up with the number - to see what they were talking about.
Trouble is, TVision doesn't give away too much information for free. The best I could find was this page with "what is tv viewability" in its URL. As far as I can figure, the percentage means that 88.7% of the time, somebody is actually watching the ads on America Says. In other words, the show's viewers don't wander out of the room or to other channels when those important messages from our sponsors flicker into place.
Maybe this is one reason GSN plasters the show all over the schedule. America Says does okay in conventional Nielsen stats, but it can't hurt the show if people really sit through the ads between the goofy survey questions.
I vaguely remember a study years ago that indicated GSN's viewers were "sticky." No, this doesn't mean that Grandma spills chocolate syrup on her blouse while watching Common Knowledge. It means that GSN's audience tends to hang around for long stretches of time. So I can sort of believe that those viewers absorb a lot of ads, too.
