Stamp out

You learn the oddest things from Google News. Like there's a stamp collecting blog called Linn's Stamp News.

People run blogs about all sorts of odd things. Game shows, for instance. The stamp collecting site took note of a Jeopardy category on stamps from around the world. One of the stamps was an embroidered item issued by the tiny nation of Liechtenstein. Jeopardy didn't show an image of the stamp, but Linn's Stamp News supplied a picture. I used it for the screenshot because it's so pretty...for a stamp, anyway.

The players ran the category, by the way. Jeopardy offered pretty broad clues that didn't require too much knowledge of stamp collecting. Or philately, to use the highfalutin' word. (The linked story talks about "the first philatelic clue.")

Linn's Stamp News assures us about the venerable quizzer's stamp knowledge. Stamp clues appear periodically on Jeopardy, which challenges contestants with categories from almost every aspect of life and history. The demos for stamp collecting and Jeopardy watching probably do overlap.
