After the usual marathons this week for the New Year holidays, GSN will trot out new eps of Get a Clue, Common Knowledge, Catch 21, and (twice a day) America Says beginning January 6. The network seems to want as much fresh stuff as possible for the high-viewing winter months. This may also have something to do with Sony buying all of the cabler. The corporate parent might be making more money available for new episodes.
In particular, America Says has now churned out well over a hundred eps (and counting) in its third season. Of course, GSN also has to feed the syndie market for the show, so the more new episodes, the better. If America Says survives to a second year in syndication - a big if, but not impossible with the Feud knockoff's current ratings - there's a chance that syndie deals for some of GSN's other originals could happen. A lot of material is piling up for such a scenario, anyway.
The wild card is the mooted second season for Best Ever Trivia Show, under a different name and possibly with a new format. The show disappears from the schedule completely next week, but a casting call said that new eps, with the title Master Minds, will tape in February. More fresh produce may soon appear in the GSN supermarket.
