Time machine

A few entries ago I posted a screenshot of Bob Barker and Drew Carey on the April 1, 2015 episode of The Price is Right. Wouldn't you know, I've gotten another screenshot of the show for a time machine experiment.

The experiment in question is running on Game Show Forum, the oldies board to end all oldies boards. The issue: Say Mark Goodson is alive in 2007 and still owns [The Price is Right]. Barker decides to retire. CBS tells Goodson he must hire Drew Carey. What does Goodson do?

A well-known sour-fruit poster replies that the outcome would depend on whether Goodson could escape from his coffin. More serious comments point out the Mark would have been over ninety in 2007, so he might have just shrugged - if he was still running the production - and let CBS hire Drew.

The thread also wanders off into a discussion of what would have happened with Family Feud, another marquee Goodson property. Posters seem to think that Richard Dawson would never have returned as the show's host for the 1994-95 season. Given Goodson's well-known battles with Dawson, that's probably a good guess.

As it is, both shows have prospered under new hosts, regardless of what Mark Goodson would have done. So it's a fun thought experiment but not much more.
