The mystery deepens

A while back I posted news from Buy a Vowel that the showrunners had cancelled some Wheel of Fortune tapings until Pat Sajak returned from his emergency surgery. Previously, the show itself confirmed that Vanna White hosted at least a week's worth of episodes, with Disney characters filling in as letter-touchers. Now there's more news from Buy a Vowel, which is usually credible on all things Wheel...

So, none of the following is 100% confirmed, but I am hearing from reliable sources that, even though last Thursday's [November 21] proposed tapings were cancelled, episodes were still taped on Friday [November 22], but without a studio audience aside from the contestant guests. No word on whether Pat returned, who hosted, or what week was taped, but the generic set was used. Only five shows were taped, and if Pat continues to be out, they will continue to only tape five shows a day until he's back to avoid any out-of-place America's Game episodes without him.

Don't ask me what any of this means. It all sounds a little too hugger-mugger. Why would they close the set to everybody except family and friends of the contestants? Are they hiding some deep dark secret from the prying eyes of the public? Maybe aliens filled in as hosts and letter-touchers!

Said it before, but recovery from emergency bowel surgery takes some time, as I can testify from personal experience. So Pat may miss a few more weeks than just the one we already know about. Get well soon.
