Yeah, I know it's a Password knockoff, with bidding rounds that are a Name That Tune knockoff. (Jane Lynch actually said she could "name that tune" during one of her bidding efforts.) But game shows have been knocking each other off for seven decades, and 25 Words is at least somewhat creative with the imitation.
But one thing about the show bugs me a little. Is this the huggiest game show ever? Everybody on the show hugs everybody else sooner or later, with host Meredith Vieira leading the embraces.
I doubt seriously that a male host would even try to get away with such caressing in the #MeToo era. But Meredith knows she has a hall pass, and she uses it aggressively. Remember how she practically drooled over the handsome Navy pilot on Millionaire? Didn't hurt her, so she knows she's got a lot of immunity.
You might say I'm sounding like a grump about harmless signs of affection. Oh, what the hey, I am sounding like a grump. But maybe the show could tone down the cuddles just a tad.
