Best Ever Trivia Show redone?

A GSN casting call just popped up, and there are all sorts of tantalizing questions...

Game Show Network is looking for contestants for a trivia game show featuring Ken Jennings (record holding champion from Jeopardy) and other top trivia experts.

The call says the show will tape in February, 2020. This sounds a lot like a renewal for Best Ever Trivia Show, only the title of the show seems to be Master Minds. Which means that it could be an entirely new show, a rejiggering of Best Ever, or just a new name for the same old format.

Your guess is as good as mine because I haven't been able to find anything else on the web about the project. Best Ever Trivia Show hasn't exactly been a big hit for GSN. In fact, it fell off the charts at Show Buzz Daily pretty quickly, though reruns continue to grind away on weekday afternoons.

So maybe the network is shaking up the format to make better use of the trivia talents of Mr. Jennings and his fellow mavens. Or maybe this effort is something completely different. It's obvious that they will use Ken Jennings as the show's biggest star, no matter what the format may be.

Best Ever Trivia Show is an acceptable quizzer, though there's too much chitchat involving host Sherri Shepherd. The format badly needs more trivia and less chatter. We'll see what those February, 2020 tapings might lead to.
