This "dream schedule" for GSN runs through every trope of the older-is-better crowd. The schedule has layers of dust on it, and very predictably there's not a current original in sight. How dare GSN run shows that are new? Icky!
The responses also look like the greatest hits from the oldies bunch. There's the usual complaint about Harvey Feud running from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM. That was "a couple years ago" but the poster can't be bothered to check the GSN schedule nowadays. Not that a self-respecting oldies freak would ever actually watch the network (or confess to watching it).
There's another golden oldie about "how few unique [this means OLD, of course - ed.] shows GSN carries now." Oldies fanatics can't count very well, but today the network is running ten different shows. Trouble is, some of those shows are, you know, new. Icky!
Once again, the obvious lesson is that the oldies crowd is clueless about the real world of game shows. GSN is a top twenty-five cable network in total day viewers, and last week drew 400K viewers in prime time. That number is probably at least forty times what Buzzr gets. The oldies diginet couldn't even draw a hundred (not a hundred thousand, a hundred) viewers to its Twitch stream before they gave up on it.
But the fanatical aficionados of ancient game shows really believe there's an audience of millions thirsting for Bill Cullen's Blockbusters. The moon is made of green cheese, too.
