Reboot Monopoly?

It's not news that a lot of old game shows are getting rebooted lately. Now a Canadian pundit wants a new version of Monopoly Millionaires' Club.

This show lasted a couple seasons, sponsored by state lotteries throughout the U.S. But when the lotteries started to pull out of the associated scratch-off games, the show bit the dust.

The best thing about Monopoly Millionaires' Club was the ritzy-ditzy set, which was a very pretty realization of the classic board game. The gameplay was pure luck, though, so the show tended to be simplistic. Billy Gardell did an okay job as the host, and the Canadian pundit thinks Howie Mandel would be fine for a possible reboot.

Who knows? I used to think that Press Your Luck, another pure luck show, would never see another reboot after GSN's Whammy. But PYL made it back to broadcast prime time, albeit during the summer. Everything old in game shows is new again, it seems.
