Splitting seconds

Buzzr unearthed Split Second from the vault today.

I missed the show on the diginet, but I hunted around the Interwebs for an episode. Dailymotion had one, and I settled in for a viewing. All in all, Split Second was a passable quizzer with a pleasant pace, though it wasn't the most fun game show ever made.

The format was rather generic and forgettable, so I can see why the show didn't last long in the 1980s . And I doubt that Split Second will make the phones ring all that often for Buzzr's direct response ads.

Monty Hall managed an okay job of reading the questions, which did cover a wide range of trivia. He seemed confined by the format, though, with few of the improv opportunities that he enjoyed so merrily on Let's Make a Deal. At least the eggcrate displays offered a little nostalgic charm. And on the Dailymotion ep the lucky contestant did win the BRAND NEW CAR.
