Not an HQ knockoff (honest)

If you thought the market for live mobile app game shows was dead, you may be right. Many entrants in the field have endured a quick demise. And there are the well-known troubles of HQ, the granddaddy (in millennial terms) of the sub-genre.

But entrepreneurial hope springs eternal. A couple of 24-year-old Long Islanders named Josh Liss and Tyler Fisher are producing Bop Live, which promises NOT "to fit into the 'cookie-cutter' outline of other mobile game shows that focus on trivia." In other words, we're NOT HQ and we're not gonna die from drug abuse, get bogged down in corporate in-fighting, fire our best-known and best-liked host, and generally crash and burn.

Bop Live offers a variety of mini-games with photogenic hosts Summer Moran and Freddie B. The linked story says that live shows only happen once a week, which seems an odd way to establish a franchise in the sub-genre. But in between live shows, "users have 10 chances to practice the mini games available" each day. Practice makes perfect, no?
