It makes the world go round

Already got a faux tweet out of this story about game show hosts' money.

The tweet only mentioned Jamie Foxx's supposed salary, but the linked story runs through a bunch of people in our little genre. It starts with Bob Barker, who reportedly made $10 million a year during his last decade on The Price is Right, as he piled up a current net worth of $70 million.

As always, I have no idea where these sites are getting these numbers. They're probably just rough estimates at best. One exception may be Anne Robinson - remember her from the U.S. version of Weakest Link? - whose salary on the Brit version was a matter of public record because the BBC sponges off the taxpayers. A few years ago the taxpayers got restless over big salaries for some of the BBC's stars. So Anne took a haircut to a still plentiful million pounds per year.

Jeff Probst gets into the story because somebody considers Survivor to be a game show. It's actually a reality soap opera, but who cares about such fine distinctions? Alex Baldwin says that his Match Game money (or at least part of it) goes to charity. I dunno, I've read that he was getting three million per season. I gotta think he's keeping some of the loot. I sure would.
