A couple debuts

Rummaging around TV by the Numbers produced some information on when and where a couple of new syndie game shows will debut in my local Dallas-Fort Worth area. Meredith Vieira's 25 Words or Less premieres at 5:30 PM September 16 on KDFI, the Fox duopoly station in these parts. John Michael Higgins debuts America Says in syndication on the same station and the same date, only at 4:30 PM.

KDFI is hardly the most watched channel in town, but it's far from a low-power nothing out in the sticks. It's the MyNetworkTV affiliate in DFW, and Buzzr lives on one of its subchannels. At least the station isn't dumping the two shows into a graveyard slot for an audience of five insomniacs.

The America Says eps won't be new, just retreads from the GSN run. This obviously doesn't help the show's prospects, but a lot of households in this area don't get GSN but do get KDFI. So the episodes might as well be new to those folks.

There's a lot of fresh competition in the syndie wars this fall, so I'm a little worried about the prospects for these game shows. As always, Nielsen will have the last word. Good luck, guys.
