Rambling through the game show Interwebs on a slow news weekend, I saw a reference to
Easiest Game Show Ever.
The name sounded familiar, so I decided to look at my own back pages for any material on the effort. To my surprise, I had written
three (3) entries on the show in 2015-16.
The first two entries were kind of duplicates, advance notices about the show that would eventually debut on Pop, the current version of the old
TV Guide listing channel. It looks like I had forgotten about the first advance notice when I typed the second.
The third entry was my review of the show once it finally surfaced. I gave it a lukewarm critique, with a cynical attitude about how the bare-bones Pop tried to keep payouts as low as possible. Overall, the pop-culture quizzer wasn't the Worst Game Show Ever, but it wasn't going to make anybody forget about
Jeopardy.
The review also noted that the show racked up painfully bad ratings. Sure enough,
Easiest Game Show Ever died one of the Quicker Game Show Deaths Ever. The quizzer doesn't even have a Wikipedia article, though
U.S. Game Shows Wiki has an entry categorized under "Flops." Harsh but true.
