Wholesome

A while back I mentioned some grumblers on BuzzerBlog who dumped on Spin the Wheel as a knockoff of The Wall.

Just to show that opinions always differ, another site lauds Spin the Wheel as "The Most Wholesome Game Show on TV." This description would probably get some hoots from BuzzerBlog, and I'm not too sure about the grandiose praise myself. But the site seems to like the show because the contestants are do-gooders of one kind or another.

The site also solemnly assures us that Spin the Wheel is not rigged. "A federal law, passed by Congress in 1960, which is still in effect today, prohibits the fixing of quiz shows — whether by feeding contestants answers or by rigging the wheel itself."

That is certainly true but it probably won't come as a surprise to most readers of this blog. Still, you can't assume too much knowledge from the readership of a general-interest show biz site.

Overall, Spin the Wheel seems to be drawing audiences that are comparable to the numbers for the twice-renewed Beat Shazam on Fox. So maybe the show will hang around for another season or two. We all need some wholesomeness, right?
