Top ten GSN originals

Time flies. GSN, our little game show network, will turn 25 later this year.

Wikipedia offers a helpful list of original shows broadcast by GSN over its quarter-century. A quick count indicates more than 130 of 'em, from long-running series to long-forgotten one-timers. So how should I pick a top ten list?

Basically, I'm just going with my opinion. I'm not going to find places for shows that ran for a long time but which I didn't much like. (Sorry, Catch 21 and Newlywed Game, among others.) You might call this egotistical. But it's my blog and I'll cry if I want to, cry if I want to, cry if I want to. GSN's top ten originals, in order...

The Chase, Lingo, America Says, Russian Roulette, High Stakes Poker, Inquizition, Baggage, That's the Question, Idiotest, Celebrity Blackjack

The only two entries that traditionalists might quibble about are the poker and blackjack shows. But they're at least closely related to traditional game shows, though more than a few will dump on them as dreaded "reality garbage." Too bad. They were both really good shows in my opinion, and my opinion is what counts on this list.

The other eight shows reflect my liking for quizzers and word/puzzle games. Only Baggage gets a nod in the relationship category, and it offered a lot more puzzle-like gameplay than the typical dating show.

That's the Question is probably the most obscure pick. For a long time this interesting word game didn't even have a Wikipedia article. A reader of this blog has now fixed that problem.
