The iconic Jeopardy host has told People magazine that he is responding well to treatment for the disease. Mr. Trebek has been very open about his health crisis, so I hope this news is genuine. Pancreatic cancer is a relentless killer, and the survival rate is terribly low.
It's a grim confluence of events for Jeopardy. James Holzhauer is setting records and drawing the show's best ratings in over a decade, while Alex Trebek is literally fighting for his life. I'm reminded of both aspects of the show every time I watch Jeopardy, which is pretty often lately.
