It would be very interesting to see their [Buzzr's] ratings numbers. I doubt they subscribe to Nielsen (a lot of small networks don't, as it's pretty expensive). But they probably have some kind of viewership data—likely from Comscore or a smaller outfit like that.
As it happens, Ron Garfield, the deposed general manager of Buzzr, talked about the diginet's ratings at an industry conference back in 2017. His comments on the subject begin about 20:30 on the podcast. Buzzr has bought an "entry level" package of ratings from Nielsen. Like other diginets they also get feedback from their direct response advertisers on which shows are making the phones ring.
Ron doesn't give out any of Buzzr's actual numbers. My guess is that they're not overwhelming. And I don't know if the new regime under Mark Deetjen still buys the package from Nielsen, or if they get ratings some other way. The diginet seems to have deemphasized regular TV in favor of online broadcasting, where viewer numbers are immediately available.
Like the GSF poster, I'd love to know how many people actually watch Buzzr. Their Twitch channel bit the dust because almost literally nobody was watching.
