Buzzr note

Haven't written much about Buzzr lately because, to be honest, there hasn't been much to write about.

The oldies boards religiously track every twist and turn of the Buzzr schedule, especially when "fresh" episodes of some thirty-year-old show appear. (Sorry for the scare quotes, but "fresh" is an unintentionally ironic term for such oldies.) But I did notice one interesting change in the schedule for next week. Richard Dawson's Family Feud will finally disappear completely from the lineup. Ray Combs' Feud eps will take the last hour (early in the morning) that Richard had claimed.

Dawson Feud could always return to Buzzr, of course, and the show may well be back sooner or later. But you'd think that the diginet would always find room somewhere for one of the most iconic oldies in the genre. Looks like Richard just didn't make the phones ring enough for the direct response ads.

With Match Game continuing to dominate Buzzr's schedule, there's still plenty of Dawson available on the diginet. But as I wrote a while ago, Richard was only one of six panelists on Match Game and could never dominate the show as he commanded Family Feud.

Times change, tastes change. Back in the 1970s Dawson Feud was the colossus of daytime TV. Now the show can't even keep a perch on a little oldies diginet.
