Weird stuff, nothing political, nothing too offensive

Ben Bailey takes his standup act to Washington, DC this weekend. So he promoted the show in a long interview with a local TV station.

As you might expect, a lot of the interview concerned Cash Cab, after Ben made it clear that his standup act is strictly nonpolitical. (See the title of this entry for his exact words.) I'm a hopeless fan of the taxi quizzer, as readers of this blog know well. One thing I didn't realize is that hosting the show isn't all that simple...

It's a weird skill set for sure. It's gotten easier as we've made more and more episodes of the show, but yeah, it's almost like a zen thing. I just have to put it all in my head and just let it happen. It's too much going on to focus on any one thing. The Red Light Challenge is tough because everybody's calling answers out. You gotta make sure we hear them all and give them credit when it's due. The whole job is very difficult. It's fun, but it's not easy.

He also tells the usual stories about how other taxi drivers and passengers often recognize him when he's prowling the streets of NYC. And he makes a tantalizing promise of more new eps on Discovery this year. I'm not so sure. The show's revival in 2017 turned in mediocre ratings by the network's standards. We'll see if Cash Cab will ride again.
