The Minutemen defense has a lot to do to climb out of the NCAA defensive cellar. Like UMass hockey, football is going to need more than one year to fix all the problems, but more speed in the front seven and generating some pass rush would be encouraging this year.

Pitt's receivers are excited about Coach Whipple's offense. And they should be. UMass finished 14th in passing offense and 16th in passing efficiency last in 2018.
