I could drop by the oldies boards and see which forty-year-old eps of Match Game are getting skipped on Buzzr. But I'm talking about news in the real world. So I've scrounged up a story from a couple weeks ago about HQ, the once-hot, now-not mobile app game show.
This story serves two purposes. It avoids James you-know-who, and it also avoids comments from...well, just about anybody. My blog entries about HQ get notoriously few (as in zero) comments.
The linked story is all about corporate infighting behind the scenes at HQ. Such nonsense is inevitable when a company's key product falls into relentless decline. But some of the details are lively enough, like the employee mutiny against the former CEO.
No matter what its present state, HQ did launch an interesting new phase of our little genre. A live game show that's truly interactive with all of its viewers has long been a dream, and HQ made it happen on a grand scale. Sadly, the scale isn't nearly so grand any more, but pioneers often come to an unfortunate end.
