Nice words

Just posted a video of five-time winner Steven Grade from Jeopardy. Coincidentally, I looked over the blogroll to see if there was anything interesting today on the game show Interwebs. Wouldn't you know, I ran across this long post from Steven on the Jeopardy Reddit.

Apparently 2018 was a tough year for Steven and his family, so he really appreciates his winning streak on the venerable quizzer. He also praises the show's staff, especially Alex Trebek, and all the fans that complimented him in person and on the Internet.

Steven's post produced a long string of comments wishing him well and hoping for a good result on the next Tournament of Champions. His five-time winning streak has booked him a berth on the ToC.

It's nice that our little genre can brighten up the lives of contestants and viewers. I get a little cynical about game shows now and then - well, most of the time, really - but there are a lot worse things in the world than fun and games.
