Kindness

For once I won't be so cynical about game shows. Instead, I'll be kind.

And I mean really kind. A lady who writes a "Kindness is Contagious" column won a car on The Price is Right. Her name is Nicole Phillips, and she was in L.A. to appear on the Hallmark Channel to talk about - what else? - kindness. So on a whim she decided to attend a TPiR taping. "Let's do something crazy and fun."

As it turned out, the fun included winning a Mazda SUV. Which you might say is profitable fun. Okay, I'm getting a little cynical now.

Nicole makes some of the usual comments that you get from TPiR contestants. For instance, "It's so loud in there you can't hear anything." Yeah, it's pretty loud for viewers at home, too. She tried one of those one-dollar-plus bids when she was on contestant's row, and Drew Carey teased her about it for the rest of her appearance. But the bid netted her a Nikon camera. She then played Any Number and won the car.

Sorry to sound a little sour, but game shows aren't all about kindness. There are losers, too. (Like the victim of Nicole's one-dollar-plus bid.) But I won't get too cynical about her win.
