GSN acquires The Young and the Restless

A while back I suggested in a comment that putting Joker's Wild on a drama outlet like TNT was every bit as smart as putting a soap opera on GSN.

Wouldn't you know, GSN execs listened to my brilliant idea. The network's programming veep, Fran Shea, announced today that reruns of The Young and the Restless will soon appear on GSN.

"It's just a natural for us," said Ms. Shea. "We're going to run The Young and the Restless right after The Beauty and the Beast, otherwise known as The Chase. We think our fans will love it. Besides, wasn't Wayne Brady on that soap opera? Or maybe he was on The Bold and the Beautiful. Or The Agony and the Ecstasy. Anyway, I think Wayne hosts a game show on CBS somewhere. So it's an obvious tie-in to GSN."

Reaction around the game show Interwebs was joyous. "This is the best news since GSN acquired Toddlers and Tiaras," burbled one jubilant poster. "Or wait a minute, maybe that acquisition didn't go through. Still, I can't wait for The Young and the Breastless, or whatever the name is."

Producers of the soap opera echoed the overwhelmingly positive reaction. "I always liked Family Feud," said one of them. "Maybe we'll get Steve Harvey to play our lead romantic interest. He's such a sexy guy."
