I watched
Jeopardy and
Wheel of Fortune tonight. As you might imagine, the first show has become an exercise in sadness, thanks to yesterday's terrible news.
There was a saving bit of humor on the second show, though. As Pat and Vanna strolled out to center stage, the camera revealed
Wheel's iconic (and ceramic) Dalmation seated next to a fire hydrant. I've marked the dog's location on the best image I could find on YouTube. (We gotta avoid copyright strikes, after all.)
It's nice to know that no matter what horrendous things happen in real life in our little genre, there's still some humor to be had. There were a few more glimpses of the porcelain pooch as
Wheel rolled on. The dog seemed blissfully indifferent to whatever was happening, as long as the hydrant was nearby.
This
Wheel episode offered a dramatic comeback in the speed-up round. Pat Sajak hit the $5,000 wedge, and a contestant took advantage to cop $24,000 in the round. She missed the bonus puzzle, though. The dog didn't care.
