You snooze, you lose

Saw an odd item at Game Show Reddit. Netflix has apparently taped a new game show called Awake. It apparently involves sleep deprivation (hence the cute title) and a million bucks in quarters.

This seems to be a real show, if you can believe BuzzerBlog. There's no debut date yet but Awake is supposed to, er, awaken sometime in 2019. So far the only real evidence for the show's existence is an Instagram post by somebody who worked on the production.

Awake has a shiny floor, which reminds me of the old GSN talk about "shiny floor shows." The more shine on the floor, the more traditional the game show...or so the theory went. Netflix taped Awake in an old Ikea store in Burbank. There has to be a joke somewhere in that fact, but I can't unearth it right now.

A Reddit commenter calls the show Cram 2.0. I liked Cram, at least in its first season. The show tumbled downhill after that. Maybe the showrunners were too sleep-deprived.
