GSN continues to score with its newfound trifecta. Family Feud, America Says and Common Knowledge all drew more than a half-million viewers on January 16. John Michael Higgins and friends hit an all-time high with 544K viewers.
If Common Knowledge keeps drawing these big numbers, will GSN give it a prime time slot? That would further lessen the network's dependence on Harvey Feud...and on Fremantle. A big thing in the show's favor is that Game Show Forum hates it. That's quite possibly a valuable contrarian indicator of what will work on a non-oldies game show network. I'm serious about this. The oldies boards can be useful in reverse, so to speak.
I gave Common Knowledge a fair-to-middling review myself. But I have to admit that the show has grown on me with subsequent viewings. The offbeat questions are fun, and Joey Fatone has a lot of relaxed charm as a host. GSN's audience certainly seems to have warmed to him.
