A note from The Price is Right landed in my inbox a few days ago about the show's "Best of 2018" year-end special. I sort of forgot the e-mail, but I just noticed a blurb in Google News about the occasion. While I'm not the biggest TPiR fan, it's nice that the venerable show continues to win the daytime TV wars.
The show does seem like it's been around forever, though it's actually not even as old as me. Well, it's close. We're both getting long in the tooth. (Speaking of which, I have to get a new crown on one of my teeth. What a nice way to start 2019.)
The year-end gala reminded viewers that TPiR gave away a record amount of merchandise and cash last year. That's not adjusted for inflation (I said actuarially). But I'm not about to go through all the work of calculating which year was the biggest giveaway for TPiR in real terms.
Let's just say they always hand out a lot of stuff. That's what the show is for.
