Ratings: another top thirty year for GSN

Nielsen's final tally on cable networks for the full year 2018 is out.

For the third straight year GSN is a top thirty network in total day viewers. Cord-cutting may be taking a toll but our little game show network seems to be riding out the storm pretty well. The demos may skew ancient but what they hey, the country is getting old overall. GSN certainly doesn't seem to have a tough time selling ads. Even though a lot of the ads are directed at elderly folks like me.

The success of America Says has finally given GSN an alternative to Steve Harvey's Family Feud in prime time. John Michael Higgins' Feud knockoff continues to get more and more exposure on the network, which is no surprise given its Nielsen numbers. Overall GSN drew 417K/279K viewers prime time/total day for 2018. The network ranked 33rd and 28th in the windows.

Deal or No Deal continues to draw big audiences on CNBC. The latest double-run got nearly 800K viewers for each episode. Such numbers will only help the network's prime time average, which came in at 281K viewers for 2018. I have to think that Deal is a lock for renewal on the NBC cable outlet.

Once the syndie ratings are out for the latest week, I'll add them to this entry.
