John Murphy has announced on Facebook that he is leaving the Saskatchewan Roughriders after three seasons as Assistant VP of Player Personnel.
It sounds like Murphy is a casualty of the CFL’s new cap on football operations staff.
Here’s what he wrote:
- “Thank you, Rider Nation! After three seasons with the club, Tuesday was my final day as a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders. While choices like these are always difficult for both personal and professional reasons, I look forward to what the next chapter has in store. The success and satisfaction I have experienced through my job is only made possible because of the relationships developed with the players, their families and yes, even their agents. My sincere thanks to each of you for your trust, commitment, friendship and loyalty given to the team. And of course, thank you, Rider Nation for allowing me to wear green after years of donning the red and black. Regina is a great community to be a part of, and I am grateful for the number of fans who became more like friends and family during this time, most notably Mr. Jerry Bosch (RIP). I truly look forward to our paths crossing once again! JM @draftjm13 John Murphy”
Thanks for everything Murph!
