The Regina Pats (3-7-0-0) play the second of four straight on home ice tonight when they host the Moose Jaw Warriors (4-3-2-0). Puck drop is at 7 p.m. at the Brandt Centre. The Pats are coming off a 4-0 loss at home to the Spokane Chiefs on Wednesday. The Warriors hosted the Calgary Hitmen on Friday and lost 5-1. Tonight is the second of eight meetings between the Pats and Warriors in 2018-19, Moose Jaw is 1-0-0-0 in the season series. The Lead Up: Pats shutout by Spokane Wednesday
The Regina Pats were shutout 4-0 on home ice Wednesday night by the Spokane Chiefs at the Brandt Centre. The Chiefs scored a powerplay goal in the first from Ethan McIndoe and another in the second off the stick of Adam Beckman to lead 2-0 heading to the third period. Max Paddock was sensational making 27 saves through 40 minutes and Bailey Brkin was equally as impressing with 27 saves as well. The Chiefs added two more early in the third and took the two points in a 4-0 final. The Pats went oh for three on the powerplay, the penalty kill was three for five and Max Paddock made 39 saves in a third star performance.
Head to Head
The Pats hold an 0-1-0-0 record against their division rivals so far in the 2018-19 season. The Warriors took the first meeting at the Brandt Centre on September 30, 2-1. The Pats lone goal came from Koby Morrisseau in the second period, Sergei Alkhimov and Steven Zonneveld picked up assists while Max Paddock made 31 saves. The Pats outshot Moose Jaw 15-7 in the third period but could not find a tying goal. The Warriors got two goals from Tristin Langan and Brodan Salmond did the rest making 31 saves in the win. The Warriors outshot Regina 33-32, the Pats went oh for two on the powerplay and the penalty kill was two for three.
Paddock Rolling
Pats goaltender Max Paddock continued his strong play on Wednesday night with 39 saves in the loss to the Spokane Chiefs. The 18-year-old stopped 13 of 14 shots in the first period, 14 of 15 in the second and 12 of 14 in the third period. In his last five games, Paddock has gone 2-3-0-0 with a 2.99 goals against average and a .912 save percentage. The product of Brandon, Manitoba has been named a game’s second star twice in this stretch and was once named a third star.
Home Stand
The Regina Pats are in the midst of a heavy home schedule where they will play nine of 10 on home ice. The club are playing the second of four in a row at the Brandt Centre tonight. Next week Saturday, Pats will visit Prince Albert and then will play five more at home before heading out on their West Coast road trip. Over the last four seasons, Regina has posted a home record of 85-42-12-5, but are looking for their first home win of 2018-19 against Moose Jaw tonight.
