Game three will be played at Currie Field in Regina on Tuesday night. Game time in the Queen City is set for 7:05 pm.
Regina product Dylan Bells started for the Red Sox. The freshman from Frank Phillips faced 31 batters over 6.1 innings. Bells allowed three earned runs on 10 hits and two walks. He also struck out eight in a losing cause. Anthony Race came on in relief and got the final two outs of the seventh inning before handing the ball to Edgar Cuevas for the eighth.
The Mavericks sent Matt Brooks to the mound to start. The Pennsylvania native earned the victory after throwing six strikeouts over six complete innings. Brooks was also responsible for two earned runs on four six hits and three walks. The Medicine Hat bullpen combination of Junior Pimentel, Sean Cruz and Tyler Shumpert was excellent as they held the Red Sox scoreless over the final three innings. For his work in the ninth inning, Shumpert earned his third save of the playoffs.
Offensively for Regina left fielder Wesley Moss had a pair of hits and a run scored while second baseman Danny Hunt had two RBI.
Medicine Hat leadoff hitter David Salgueiro continues to be a force in the playoffs. The senior from Central Methodist University, is hitting .436 and contributed three hits and a run scored while Louie Canjura also added three hits in the Mavericks victory.
