The idea is that three contestants with heavy-duty student loans compete to get the loans off their backs (and bank accounts). It's a slightly rejiggered rewind of Debt, as I saw somebody mention on one of the oldies boards. And for what it was, the show was okay.
Winsome millennials answered trivia questions and survey polls. The pace was reasonably fast, though the general difficulty level would be a gimme for your usual Jeopardy contestant. I even got most of the questions right without straining my non-gigantic brain.
As you might expect from truTV, there was plenty of humor named, appropriately enough, for the second year of college. At one point a guy called "a terrible insult comic" turned up. He lived up to the billing as he plodded through insults of...planets. In particular, Pluto got a real drubbing for being demoted to dwarf planet status.
Sometimes humor works and sometimes it doesn't. Host Michael Torpey kept things moving along, though he went a little overboard on how noble the show was for helping people with their student loans. But a little self-congratulation is acceptable.
