Old?

Rummaging around Google News I came across this almost entirely irrelevant sports column from today.

But the writer did start out with three game-show-related sentences. I watched Cash Cab last night. I miss that show. Nothing is better than an old game show. You might think there's not much here, but the three sentences got me thinking (dangerous, I know).

First, the guy must have been watching GSN. No other network was running Cash Cab last night. Second, the guy obviously doesn't know that Cash Cab is not just a historical artifact. Discovery will start running new eps July 27.

Third, and most important, is that word "old." By usual TV standards, yeah, I guess Cash Cab is pretty old. It dates all the way back to 2005, for crying out loud. That's practically the Jurassic Period for most TV outlets (and viewers).

By the standards of the game show Interwebs, though, Cash Cab is newer than new. It's so new that Game Show Forum couldn't bring themselves to include in their top-50 list. And if the show ever turns up on Buzzr, their Facebook page will ring with denunciations of this new crud instead of the beloved oldies.

Funny how things get old at different rates for different people. Except for me. I'm getting old by anybody's standards.
