Jim was raised on Cropwell Angus Farm at Milestone, SK and that is where he developed his love for the farm, which included being a lifelong 4-H member, and raising Purebred Angus cattle. Although he enjoyed livestock, his true love was being in the field. In the winter Jim could be found at a hockey rink, starting with his own goaltending career, then following his three sons' games, and eventually a lengthy scouting career which included 26 years with the NHL's Dallas Stars. At the time of his retirement Jim was the Stars' longest-serving employee, winning a Stanley Cup in 1999.
Jim also took great pride in his years of substance abuse speaking and counselling with youth. In his later years, Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Memorial Service for Jim will be held at Milestone Memorial Centre, Milestone, SK on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jim's name may be made to Milestone Minor Hockey, Box 74, Milestone, SK, S0G 3L0.
