Disney will roll out Disney QUIZney, a seven-minute live trivia game app, on July 16 for a ten-episode run. Hosted by 12-year-old Trinitee Stokes (see screenshot) it's a familiar knockoff of the by now endlessly knocked off HQ format. The kicker is that all the questions are, you guessed it, about Disney trivia. The effort covers the Disney Channel and the Disney Now app where viewers actually play the game.
This is the first HQ imitation that crosses over between app-land and a cable TV channel. I've been waiting for a TV crossover like this ever since HQ burst onto the mobile scene. GSN has made some noises about such a possibility but nothing has surfaced on our little game show network.
Disney QUIZney looks like mostly a Disney promo. I wish they were creating more of a general knowledge quizzer for kids. But you can't blame Disney for pushing its merchandise.
